Experiments:
1. Visit to the Oxford Museum of Natural History
Sketch page example |
2. Media Experiment - creating a form using shapes (without using an outer line). Originally done as part of Research Project.
Toucan sketch |
Triangle outline (using a pencil, ruler, and light box) |
Drawing and colouring of triangles using Photoshop (each triangle re-drawn free-hand) process |
Toucan complete with background colour |
3. Misc. work created using found images (created before choosing my exact outcome of FMP):
4. More triangle experiments -
Full body (and less exotic choice) of bird:
Pigeon - bare triangle 'skeleton' |
Process of creating the body using digitally drawn and coloured shapes |
Finished Pigeon body with coloured background |
Non-bird form:
Observational sketch of pinwheel (made by hand) |
Finished digital drawing of Pinwheel (triangles drawn freely without any initial pencil triangle 'skeleton' |
5. Two-colour screen printing test:
Bird sketch |
Initial 'figuring out' of darker and lighter areas (using different coloured highlighters) |
Dark and light colour layers laid on top of each other on lightbox |
Colour separations created in black marker for photocopying |
Finished screen print |
6. Mock-up triangle 'Screen-print':
Quick triangle 'skeleton' created for first chosen bird |
Colour separations created as separate Photoshop layers (included a third 'lightest' layer) |
All three colour separations 'laid' on top of each other in Photoshop. The blue layer has slightly lower opacity, but it is hard to tell due to the nature of the 'flatness' of the digital image. |
